Youtube for Leaders!

Its election time for America (literally!). The race for the presidents post is on and I support Hilary Rodham Clinton. I hope the country has a woman president at least now! Actually, I am more curious to see how Bill Clinton will be the first husband. :D

Well, the new trend or campaigning is posting your videos on Youtube, The Time invention of year-2006. Truly we have gone techno crazy. Internet has become our oxygen for reaching out to as many as people as we want. Internet is now indispensable for information. How casually one of my friends living in a hostel said to me," We do not read newspapers. We do not even watch those 24x7 news channels. We have the internet!"

So when leaders like Rudy Guilani and Hilary Clinton use Youtube as one of the various ways to boost their campaigns, its amazing. Youtube is not only cheap and easisest ways to publicise yourself but an effective tool to reach to the young voters of my age (in America, of course!). I feel I am now living one of the Isaac Asimov story. Now, a website decides the future in world history. A candidates chances of winning would be decided by the number of views he/she has had! Congrats Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. Your innocent invention changes everything now.

I am now wondering whether we get to see our Indian leaders on Youtube? Would we want to see Laloo Prasad Yadav or Sonia Gandhi or L.K. Advani on the net?

Every damn thing is on youtube. you just need to dive in. As for seeing indian leaders on youtube, you're going to see much more.
Infact you're going to witness a broadband revolution in india. In taiwan, the municipal corporation provides Broadband@10Mbps at home, just like water supply or electricity supply. Indian government will be emulating the same model taking internet to every house. In every such plan money is the problem, but not this one though, coz every telecom company has to give 5% of their profits to a government fund, which on todays date is sitting on Rs 10,000 crores, waiting to be utilized.

This will kill the telecom companies coz everybody will use voip over landline. So these companies are pretty angry coz government is using their money to kill them. mwuhahaha

At home, I don't have a connection fast enough to regularly watch YouTube videos. It'll take a couple of decades for the percentages to be large enough for YouTube to make a real difference. By that time, we'll have newer technology used by candidates in the US!

(There's actually a fascinating article somewhere by this guy called Aditya Nigam - "Imagining a Global Nation" - I think, its called, where he talks of this phenomenon...)

Bloghopped here and have stayed here for a while now. You have a delightful matter-of-fact way with words. Your ode's to the buses of AP and to your punju family were charming reads. Do blog more often
